DEMONSTRATION:- Note:- Pluto’s satellite Charon is the largest satellite, in relation to the size of its parent planet, in The Solar System. This satellite is sometimes considered to be the “twin” of Binary Planet – Pluto/Charon.

Charon’s orbital period = 6.387230 Earth days.

The rotation periods of this satellite is the same as its orbital period, due to “tidal locking”.

Pluto’s rotation period = 6.387230 Earth days.

During TWO Earth days, Pluto/Charon rotates

(2 ÷ 6.387230) + (2 ÷ 6.387230) = 0.626249 rotations

0.626249 x 360 = 225.4 degrees.

The Earth year = 365.25636 Earth days.

TWO Earth years = (365.25636 x 2) = 730.51272 Earth days.

During TWO Earth years, Pluto/Charon rotates

(730.51272 ÷ 6.387230) + (730.51272 ÷ 6.387230) = 228.7416 rotations

0.7416 x 360 = 266.99 degrees.

That is 228 complete rotations + 266.99 degrees.
